Spectrum of Discovery

My husband and I went walking around the Irvine Spectrum.  If you decide to go, be sure to look around.  The word "Spectrum" actually derives from the Latin "Speculatus", meaning "to look at, or view".  If you've never noticed, The Spectrum has great Islamic design inspired by some of the greatest Islamic architecture around.

The red and white, striped horseshoe arches mimic The Great Mosque of Cordoba

The foliated arches and the arabesque pattern are reminiscent of The Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain

And, don't forget about the Patio of the Lions....

However, the one at the Alhambra doesn't have an Adidas store behind it....

So, next time you're out and about, look around...you might be surprised at what you discover.
